Educational Residencies!

Laura Dean, a dynamic art advocate, leads innovative residencies that carry a  lasting impact.  Laura tailors residencies to the needs of each community including adult audiences and grades K-12.   


Through experiential learning, Laura’s  residencies  provide students with hands on opportunities to sing, dance, create rhythm instruments,  and  compose original music.  Laura facilitates appealing classes filled with live music accompanied by  colorful multi media presentations of composers and cultures.  


Meeting the benchmarks for the Arts as  outlined in the Essential Academic Learning Requirements (EALRS) for Washington State, Laura incorporates age appropriate activities for imaginative and creative instruction.


Residencies include comprehensive residency guides (hard copy, CD- ROM) which contains a  bibliography, discography, vocabulary list,  key facts, sheet music,  web links,learning activities and assessments.

American Folk Songs:  Exploring our  history through the great oral tradition of song.

From Appalachia to the mission culture  of California.   Students experience the  oral tradition of folk songs from the  immigrants, pioneers, and laborers of early  America.

Celebrate  the vibrant  music and  colorful culture of Mexico and Central America through the exploration of  traditional  music and folk songs.  


Anyone Can Sing!

Discover your voice and the joy of singing for pleasure. (for adults)

A gentle  introduction into finding your voice  and singing for enjoyment.  Laura instills confidence in new singers as she unravels the mysteries of breath support, range, tone, dynamics, and pitch.   Singers enjoy a wide range of  repertoire including   folk songs, standards, broadway selections, and  popular songs.
